Gone are the days of huge birthday dinners where 20+ of our closest friends come together to celebrate another year of life. With my boyfriend’s 30th and respective party around the corner, I wanted to take a few moments to enjoy a birthday dinner with him before the excitement began. So the Monday before the madness, we had date night in HOBNOB in Midtown.
It was rainy that night. The 30 minute commute into the city ended up turning into a 50 minute ride. But seeing him once I arrived at HOBNOB made it all worth it. The rain washed away the usual Monday night crowd so there were only a few patrons inside. It was almost as if I shut down the whole restaurant for us.
Every Monday night, HOBNOB offers a Date Night special where couples can dine for $24.95. This was perfect because planning a party isn’t cheap. The $24.95 gets you their BLT salad, you and your date’s choice of a pizza or a chicken or beef burger, and the cobbler of the day. We deviated a bit and ordered a few drinks, but it’s still a great deal. It’s even more of a win because the food is good.
Like I mentioned earlier, the experience allowed us to spend quality time together. We watched Wheel of Fortune on mute as we enjoyed our meal.
I wouldn’t have pictured that a rainy date night would have turned out so perfectly, but it did. Our waiter was attentive enough where he wasn’t annoying. The atmosphere was chill so we could enjoy ourselves without fighting to hear what the other person was saying. It was great. I’d check it out if I were you.
