I have been asking my best friend to take me to lunch since she returned back to the States after studying in Puerto Rico for two years. And finally, she decides to finally grant me the one wish I’ve consistently asked her about for what seems like two years.
She asked me where did I want to go and I said Who’s Got Soul Cafe because the images on the website looked so appealing and it was close to the both of us.
The restaurant is located in a shopping center off Herrington Rd. in Lawrenceville. It really wasn’t hard to get there.
We arrived shortly after 12. I instantly noticed that this is a restaurant designed for takeout—there were about 6 or 7 booths and seating near the pick up counter. Only one booth was occupied at the time with three guys that were obviously taking their lunch break as well.
We picked up a lunch menu (that you can take with you) at the ordering counter. Honestly, it took me a while to decide on my meal because there were so many affordable options. I ended up sticking with what I saw online—a turkey wing covered in gravy with rice and collard greens. A piece of cornbread comes with it. And for my drink, I followed my friend’s lead and ordered an Arnold Palmer aka lemonade and sweet tea.
The drink was ready first.
Bruh. This was the epitome of an Arnold Palmer. It wasn’t bitter nor too sweet. Goldilocks would approve.
The food was ready shortly after that.
I can’t even articulate how delicious this meal was. This was Grandma-put-her-foot-with-the-bunion-and-the-shaved-off-corn-in-it good. And what was even more impressive was that it wasn’t heavy. I didn’t feel sluggish because of it like other dinner portion-esque meals.
I ate the whole thing, tbh. No leftovers here. My best friend, however, took her leftover rib tips and peach cobbler (sampled both, bruh bruh BRUHHHHH) to go.
We’ll be back. I’ll be back. Honestly, I’ll probably be back this week because 1. affordable and 2. delicious. You must go. There are two locations so if the Lawrenceville one is too far for you, go to the location in Decatur. It’s so worth it.
